Our 4×4 Responders are the frontline volunteers of Tayside 4×4 Response. These dedicated individuals use their own capable vehicles to provide assistance in some of the most challenging conditions, including severe weather, major incidents, and community emergencies.
Responders are willing to head out when others cannot, remaining calm, professional, and resourceful when conditions become difficult. Their commitment helps ensure that vital support reaches those who need it most.
All responder volunteers undergo PVG checks and additional police vetting. They receive training in the use of our communication and dispatch systems, map reading and navigation techniques, and amateur radio operation. Ongoing training opportunities help volunteers develop the skills required to operate safely and effectively in a variety of situations.
To support their role, volunteers are provided with appropriate protective clothing and equipment suitable for the environments and weather conditions in which we operate.
If you have a capable 4×4 vehicle, a desire to support your community, and the ability to remain calm under pressure, becoming a Tayside 4×4 Response Responder could be the ideal volunteering opportunity for you.
